It is important that we counter the Christian right's misinformation campaign. Our government is not based upon the Ten Commandments. There are only two or three of the commandments that are even encoded into our laws. Our Bill of Rights gives us freedom of religion, and yet four of the Ten Commandments are about the proper way to worship Yahweh. We have freedom of speech, and yet one of the commandments prohibits using Yahweh's name in a particular way. Our Constitution establishes a secular government. If the founders wanted a Christian government they could have said so, but they did not, in fact they made sure religion did not take over. They prohibited religious tests for public office, and guaranteed freedom of religion, whatever religion you might have.

Christians, if I can't trust you to speak truthfull about the Ten Commandments, why would I trust you about other things you want to tell me? Like Jesus? Or God? Honesty is an extremely important issue.

So enough of the lying! Talk to your representatives, write letters to the editor. Talk to your friends. STAND UP against this oft-repeated LIE.
